Web Tool Facelift
May 13, 2012

As of Sunday, May 13, 2012 you will enjoy developing in the Washington Career Pathways Web Tool with a new "look and feel". We've updated the site to align with State branding colors and to separate our identity from Oregon with the use of this project.

Version 3.5 Web Tool Upgrades
May 1, 2011

As of Monday, May 2, 2011 you will see and experience the following updates and improvements to the Career Pathways Roadmap Web Tool:

New Features

  • POST Drawings - "Other Orgs" are now able to add Community Colleges to their list of affiliated schools: Organizations such as ESD's and other State Agencies can now create and manage POST Drawings for their affiliated community colleges, as well as area high schools as before. This opens up the POST Views feature for these "Other Orgs" to create Views of programs at their area colleges.
  • POST Drawings - Now rendering HTML in table cells: A WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor has been added to the POST Drawings Course Content editing box. This now allows users to customize content formatting such as bold, bullet lists, multiple hyperlinks, and spell checking for every table cell. Read more here: POST Drawings TOOLS Orientation
  • POST Drawings - Changes to "Configure Rows & Tables": This feature now allows users to preview changes to their POST Drawing table structure before they are saved. Users can now choose to "save" or "cancel" changes before returning to the drawing. The new custom row titles feature is also active here, so be sure to check that out as well! Read more here: Configure Rows & Columns
  • POST Drawings - Custom row titles: Community College and High School users can now add custom row titles to their POST Drawings! Hover over blank rows (they will highlight yellow) to open a pop-up window to assign a new row title. Read more here: Custom Row Titles
  • POST Views - Print feature improvements: When printing a PDF of a POST View you will now see a "Printed on [date & time stamp]" at the bottom of the printed tables. When printing from a browser (not clicking on the PDF link) the browser will add a footer with the POST View title and appropriate page number to every page. Read more here: What Happens When Printing a POST View?
  • Roadmaps & POSTs - Print to PDF file name enhancement: When downloading a PDF to print of a Roadmap or POST Drawing, the file name will now read 'Organization Name - Drawing Title - Version #.pdf'. POST Views will only identify 'Organization Name - POST View Title.pdf'. Read more here: How Can I Find My PDF After it Downloads?
  • User Permissions - Adding users at affiliated High Schools: "Organization Administrator" and "Webmaster" users can now add/edit user accounts for their affiliated high schools. If you have one of these user levels you no longer need to go through the HelpDesk? or "Guest" account to add a user to the Web Tool. Read more here: Users

Bug Fixes

  • Drawing Lists - added "Reset" button to keyword search: Clears keyword search box, but maintains previous filter box selections.
  • Drawing Lists & Version Settings "Actions" - icon glitch repaired: Repaired glitch with the "draw/edit" action icon which was causing confusion as to whether drawings were locked or still unpublished for editing.
  • POST Drawings - fixed additional window/tab glitch: Repaired glitch that was causing an additional blank window/tab to open up when attempting to edit POST Drawing table content.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your patience as we have worked hard to implement these changes.

Upcoming Features
Requests that did not make it into the above list are still in development, and will be completed in the near future. Here is a list of those pending requests:

  • POST Drawings - Copy content between drawings: Add ability to copy the contents of a cell from one drawing and paste into another drawing.
  • POST Views - Add a "Copy this View" feature: This will allow users to copy existing POST Views (layout and content) within their own organization, as they do not have access to explore Views created by other organizations at this time.
  • Reporting Feature: Potential useful for grant reporting, this feature would pull usage data, such as how many times a published Roadmap or POST View is viewed on an external website. Open for additional suggestions on desired reporting features and results.

For detailed step-by-step instructions on all Career Pathways Roadmap Web Tool features, please refer to our online Tutorials.

Version 3.4 Web Tool Upgrades
November 4, 2010

As of Friday, November 5, 2010 you will see and experience the following updates and improvements to the Career Pathways Roadmap Web Tool:

New Features

  • Roadmap Drawings, POST Views & POST Drawings - Print to PDF: From the Drawing Properties page for Roadmaps and POST Drawings, as well as POST Views, you can now download automatically generated PDF documents of your published drawings! You also have access to a URL link that you can put on your website for viewers to download the same document. This PDF link will always generate a PDF of the most currently published version, rendered identical to your embedded drawings or published HTML link. Read more here: http://cpwebtool.org/tutorial/Print_To_PDF
  • Improved External Links to OLMIS & MyPathCareers?.org: We are able to track links to embedded Roadmap Drawings and POST Views when you place the embed code (found in your Drawing Properties page) in your website. If the Web Tool detects an external link we are able to share that link with outside resources such as OLMIS and MyPathCareers?.org, to direct outside traffic to your community college pathways websites! The improvements to this feature are in determining which link we share. If we detect multiple links (listed under "Embed Views" in your Drawing Properties page), you can now choose which external link you want as the "primary" URL. Or, you can simply copy and paste your preferred URL in the External Link field and save your changes. Read more here: http://cpwebtool.org/tutorial/Roadmap_Drawing_Properties#How_to_Edit_an_External_Link
  • POST Views & POST Drawings - Printing Legend Symbols: Legend symbols are now drawn in an image tag instead of as a background image. This makes them print by default. End viewers are no longer dependent on enabling "print background images" with their browsers print settings to print correctly.

Bug Fixes

  • POST Drawings - High School Headers: Added ability to hit enter on keyboard to save changes to High School POST Drawings column headings.
  • User Account Profile: Added the users Organization name to the user profile page, and corrected the drawings list display to reverse the order of versions keeping the most current version at the top of the list.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your patience as we have worked hard to implement these changes.

Upcoming Features
Requests that did not make it into the above list are still in development, and will be completed in the near future. Here is a list of those pending requests:

  • POST Drawings - Bug Fix: Fix additional browser window/tab that is opening when attempting to edit content.
  • Roadmap & POST Drawing List - Bug Fix: Fix minor defects in filter box function and results.
  • POST Drawings - Preview Rows & Columns Configuration Table: Allow for a preview of table layout changes before saving the changes to the drawing. A new "Save" or "Cancel" button will be added before returning to the active POST Drawing.
  • POST Drawings - Alternative Row Titles: Add capacity to select from pre-determined alternative row titles:
    • Current row titles default to "1st Year Fall", "2nd Year Fall", "Electives", "Prereq", blank, etc.
    • We will be adding an approved list of alternative row titles for users to choose from, such as "Term 1", "Term 2", etc., "Gen Ed", "Required", and "Core Req"
    • If you have feedback on additional row titles that you would like considered, please submit your suggestions to helpdesk@ctepathways.org for review.
  • User Permissions: "Org Admin" and "Webmaster" users will be given the capability of adding and editing/managing users for their affiliated high schools.
  • Affiliations: "Other Orgs" (such as Lane ESD) will be able to add specific Community Colleges to their list of "Affiliations" so that they can create POST Views using their local community college's POST Drawings.

For detailed step-by-step instructions on all Career Pathways Roadmap Web Tool features, please refer to our online Tutorials.

Version 3.3 Web Tool Upgrades
July 1, 2010

As of Thursday, July 1, 2010 you will see and experience the following updates and improvements to the Career Pathways Roadmap Web Tool:

Bug Fixes
Thank you to everyone who has reported technical issues with the Web Tool. For new software we are fortunate that most of these issues have been minor in the grand scheme of things!

--Roadmap & POST Drawing Lists--

  • Occupations/Programs filter boxes now function properly when program names are selected. New improvements include a "loading" graphics display while the drawing list is generating after filter selections are made, and the ability to click "show all" from the organizations filter box to change selection of organizations.
  • Words typed in to the keyword search field are now retained so that when a user leaves and returns to the drawing list they do not have to re-do their search query.

Feature Requests
We thank you for your patience as we have worked hard to implement your requests, and we welcome your additional feedback regarding these issues, or new requests. Please email us at helpdesk@ctepathways.org.

--Roadmap & POST Drawing Lists--

  • Drawing versions are now listed in reverse (descending) order so that the most recent version is at the top of the list, and more easily accessible.

--Roadmap Drawings--

  • Drawing Canvas Print Frame is now a part of the drawing canvas during Roadmap development. Visible in "draft" mode only, these non-printable gray borders provide a visual guide for fitting your design to a printer friendly portrait print layout. Please note: these are only guides! Always use the Print this Version tool feature to review your work for desired print layout.
  • Color Palettes have been updated to include "white (#ffffff)" as a standard color selection for all organizations. Some users have been using this color to creating floating box effects in their drawings.
  • Drawing Properties pages now provide an External Link reference based on where an individual Roadmap is embedded. If an external link is detected for your organization, this link will be used by OLIMS to direct traffic to your Roadmaps and organization website (instead of viewing Roadmaps off of the Web Tool server). This External Link feature can be found directly under the embed code of published drawings.
  • Drawing Properties pages now provide a list of Embed Views (at the bottom of the page) as a reference to how many sites are embedding a particular Roadmap, and how many views it has received since being embedded.

--POST Drawings--

  • POST Drawings now offer an optional row header notes field (similar to the existing footer row) at the top of POST drawing tables where general program notes and external hyperlinks can be added. Both the "header notes" and "footer notes" rows can be included (displayed or hidden) by checkbox toggle in the configure rows & cols feature, however the footer row is displayed by default.
  • AP - Advanced Placement has been added as a new POST Legend Symbol option.

Upcoming Features
Our design committee is meeting in July to review pending feature requests and prioritize development for the coming 2010-2011 development year. We will get back to you on approved requests and our timeline for development.
